2012 Family Trip

Gosh....I'm so sad.  Not because anything bad has happened to us.  Thankfully.  I'm sad because we aren't going on our yearly (as in 12 years in a row) trip from July 5th through the 12th.  So vain.  I admit.  That's been "our dates" for our trips every.single.year.  Sadly, not this year.  Big sad face.  You see.....that time frame has some of the most important dates to us.

Trip Time Frame:
* July 5th - we leave on trip
* July 6th - we celebrate Jer's Birthday
* July 7th - we have fun
* July 8th - we celebrate our Wedding Anniversary
* July 9th - we have fun
* July 10th - we have more fun
* July - 11th - we celebrate My Birthday
* July 12th - we head home

See.  We celebrate our birthday's and anniversary all in one big trip!  It works out perfectly.  That way we are always "somewhere" for our birthdays and anniversary.  So there's no chore of deciding what to do for each event.  Our trip is our plan and our gift.

Until this year.  This year, instead of going somewhere for our birthdays, we decided we would go on a trip for Boston's birthday.  I know, such thoughtful parents.  ;)  So that's what we've done.  We booked our trip for September 30th - October 4th.  And his birthday is October 2nd.  Since our usual trips are 8 days & 7 nights, we figured 5 days & 4 nights this year was enough with our mobile little guy in tow.

Last year, we went on our trip to San Francisco and took Boston with us when he was only 9 months old and it was great (oh and I STILL plan on posting about this trip, real real soon! almost a year later).  Taking him with us is something that we plan to do, always.  Like I talked about in this post (he better get ready to be a travelin' fool man).  This year, he's walking and all over the place and is likely to be a little more difficult.  Which should be fun.  :)

Anyway, where are we taking Boston for his 2nd birthday you ask?  Well, we almost (as in almost clicked purchase) booked our trip to Playa Mujeres, Mexico.  But because we really don't like going to the same place (since there's so many other pretty/cool places to see in the world, and we only have so many years to see them in) we decided to go somewhere we'd never been before AND decided to stay in the US.

We chose Pensacola, Florida!  *Destin was all booked (the nicer hotels, at least)*

We wanted beach.  We wanted a US beach.  We wanted white sand beaches with swimable waters.  We wanted something not too expensive.  We wanted nice hotel.  And we wanted a fairly short flight.  We got all of those things in this one trip!  We were sold.

I'm so excited to see Bos in the ocean, playing, building sand castles, getting sandy, burrying him in the sand and swimming in the ocean with us.  Nothing will give me more pleasure than all of these.  5 more months, not sure if I can handle it.  Oy!

Next year, well, we will be back to our regular scheduled trips.  And I'm thinking Bahamas!  Boston would love the Atlantis resort and all it has to offer.  By then he will be almost 3 years old.  We are taking applications for another family to join us next year.  Kidding.  But, we are up for going on a trip with friends or family or even new blogger friends (like a blacation, perhaps)!  :)

It’s nice that you do allow your child to travel with you, Jennifer. Travelling allows you to discover different people, places, cultures, and natural wonders you never would have discovered if you just stayed put. These experiences allow you to grow more as a person. And good point, it’s important to have almost everything that you want in a trip in one location, so you won’t feel shortchanged.
