Goodwill...again

I've admitted before that I'm obsessed with thrift stores, mainly, Goodwill.  Well, I couldn't help my urge again to visit my favorite Goodwill store in search of 2 things in particular.  1. Plates. 2. Glasses.  No...not for eating or drinking purposes but for a project I found on another blog that I'm going to try to replicate.  This time I'll be sharing the blog with you once I finish the project.  Such a tease, I know.  :)  But I assure you, it's super duper cute.  Maybe I can give you the urge to make some yourself.  It'll be perfect for our gatherings we have this summer and I can use them at Boston's birthday party, too!  Kill two birds with one stone, can't beat that.  (Not that I would actually ever kill a bird.)

Yes, I've been thinking about a theme for Boston's 1st Birthday since he was, oh...about a month old.  And, yes, I've also been buying things for it here and there.  And, of course, once everything has been decided on you'll get the low down on all things "Birthday."

Anyway, back to my project.  Here are a few things I picked up last Friday.  The plates and glasses you see will be the ones that I will be using for this project.  The small brown plates were $.75 each, the bigger plates were $1 and the glasses were $2.  Not bad, not bad.  That same night from 8-midnight they were having a sale and everything was 50% off but I didn't want to have to drive back that same night.  But next time I'll be attending their sale, for sure.

Lately, I've really been into all things white.  I'm loving the white ceramic look and the white stand you see on the left could be used for pretty colorful summer-y flowers or candy (Jer and I often have candy in a bowl on our counter) or keys for our front entry table or anything else you can stuff in it.  Plus it was only 3 bucks, I couldn't pass it up.  Something like that from Pottery Barn would have cost 2 or 3 times that.  Something about white ceramic makes me feel summer-y/inviting/cottag-ey/bright/clean which makes me want to brighten my living room up a tad but that's another story.  One of which you might see soon.  :)  The red cup looking things will also be used for Boston's birthday.

In two weeks, everything at my Goodwill will be half off all day, so as the Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger, would say - I'll Be Back.
***Note - most every Goodwill has 50% off days once a month.  You should check them out.

Happy happy Friday,
~Jeni
