Goodwill...again

I've admitted before that I'm obsessed with thrift stores, mainly, Goodwill.  Well, I couldn't help my urge again to visit my favorite Goodwill store in search of 2 things in particular.  1. Plates. 2. Glasses.  No...not for eating or drinking purposes but for a project I found on another blog that I'm going to try to replicate.  This time I'll be sharing the blog with you once I finish the project.  Such a tease, I know.  :)  But I assure you, it's super duper cute.  Maybe I can give you the urge to make some yourself.  It'll be perfect for our gatherings we have this summer and I can use them at Boston's birthday party, too!  Kill two birds with one stone, can't beat that.  (Not that I would actually ever kill a bird.)

Yes, I've been thinking about a theme for Boston's 1st Birthday since he was, oh...about a month old.  And, yes, I've also been buying things for it here and there.  And, of course, once everything has been decided on you'll get the low down on all things "Birthday."

Anyway, back to my project.  Here are a few things I picked up last Friday.  The plates and glasses you see will be the ones that I will be using for this project.  The small brown plates were $.75 each, the bigger plates were $1 and the glasses were $2.  Not bad, not bad.  That same night from 8-midnight they were having a sale and everything was 50% off but I didn't want to have to drive back that same night.  But next time I'll be attending their sale, for sure.

Lately, I've really been into all things white.  I'm loving the white ceramic look and the white stand you see on the left could be used for pretty colorful summer-y flowers or candy (Jer and I often have candy in a bowl on our counter) or keys for our front entry table or anything else you can stuff in it.  Plus it was only 3 bucks, I couldn't pass it up.  Something like that from Pottery Barn would have cost 2 or 3 times that.  Something about white ceramic makes me feel summer-y/inviting/cottag-ey/bright/clean which makes me want to brighten my living room up a tad but that's another story.  One of which you might see soon.  :)  The red cup looking things will also be used for Boston's birthday.

In two weeks, everything at my Goodwill will be half off all day, so as the Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger, would say - I'll Be Back.
***Note - most every Goodwill has 50% off days once a month.  You should check them out.

Happy happy Friday,

our day out

Many of you already know that I prefer to stay home during the day while Jer's at work.  I l.o.v.e it.  It's stress free to stay home.  I can stay in my comfy clothes, pull my hair up, put some concealer and lip gloss on and focus solely on my B-man, which is what I love to do the most.  And most of the time when I need something I just get online and go to town, shopping.  I've gotten pretty good at it.  Maybe too good.  :)  But hey, it beats paying for fuel and not to mention all the work that goes into just leaving the house with an infant.  Or I'll just wait for Jer to get off work and we take a family trip.  But most of the time our weekends are filled with many excursions out and about.  However, there are those days that I'm itching to get out to see the sun and the world.  And yesterday was one of those days!

Ready to head out the door but not before our picture session.
About to go shopping in one of our favorite stores.  I was on a mission to get some spray paint for an upcoming project.
Then we went into a new store...Thrift Town.  I was looking for something in particular and I knew my local Goodwill didn't have it so I thought I'd try this place.  I'd never been into a Thrift Town so I wasn't exactly sure if they'd have anything I'd be interested in.  And who'd a thunk it...they had exactly what I was looking for.  Not 1 but 2 of them!!  I was doing the happy dance.  Score!  More on those in a post coming very soon.
And, of course, couldn't end the day without a picture with daddy.  I love my boys.
B and I had a great day out.  He was an angel and let me do my thang - shop.

the past few days

It's been a really busy few days.  Last week my son and I ran some errands, went Christmas shopping, got a few things for his nursery, and hung out at the house with daddy.  Here are a few pic's from past week.

Putting little man to sleep for the night

Ready for the Slates Family Christmas Party...we couldn't keep his socks on

We had a mommy and son day doing some shopping - it was really cold that day so we got all bundled up

love my boys

He's getting so big!

Got this picture frame from Hobby Lobby, it was unfinished wood.  I painted it gray, painted the letters black and glued them on.  It'll be perfect for a black and white newborn picture of the Bos man.

Got this vase from Goodwill for $1.25, it was originally royal blue.  I forgot to take a picture of the "before."  Took some black spray paint to it and here it is!  I might add one more coat.  I plan on putting some hydrangea in it for Boston's room.  My favorite flowers.  :)

We had a pretty low key weekend.  Friday - Jer worked late.  When he finally got off his conference call, we ran over to Central Market for dinner and did some grocery shopping.  Then we went and looked around at the Learning Express and picked up a Christmas present for my nephew Noah.  Saturday - had a hair appointment and we went Christmas shopping ALL DAY!  We hadn't been out with Boston that long ever.  I think we were gone from the house for almost 10 hours.  We were pooped!  Sunday - we relaxed, watched the Cowboy game and then had a lovely dinner with Casey and Lauren Jones and Jeff and Stephanie Ellis for Casey's birthday.
