One year later...love at first sight

Today marks one year that we saw our little creation from God for the first time.  We were 8 weeks along (picture below).  He was perfect (even at 8 weeks) and A-mazing!  You can read about it here

I can't believe it's already been a year.  This year has passed so quickly and we can't believe we will have a 6 month old tomorrow.  Time flies when you're in love and having fun.  We have thoroughly enjoyed every-single-minute of this past year.  We couldn't feel more blessed by our Lord than we have these past couple of years.  I'm not sure what we've done to deserve everything we've gotten but we are so very thankful.  We'll always remember this day.  It was one of the best days of our lives and I know there will be many more to come with this little guy.

TGIF,
~Jeni

August 2010 - Fourth Sonogram - 27 weeks

Makes me sad, this was our last sonogram.  I L.O.V.E.D. getting to see the baby on the monitor.  It had grown so much in 7 weeks!

Baby is sucking on it's hand/fingers.  The profile looks so much like Jer to me.  So cute.

Baby's profile.

Blessings,
Jeni

June 2010 - Third Sonogram - 20 weeks

20 weeks and 3 days

Loved this sonogram!  We hadn't seen the baby in 6 weeks and we were itching to see its growth.  We couldn't believe how much it had grown.  It was becoming more and more human looking.

This little arm is the cutest arm ever.

The profile is so stinkin' cute!

Being able to see the spine is so cool.

May 2010 - Second Sonogram

13 weeks and 6 days

This was our second sonogram and we were so excited to see how much it had grown in 6 weeks!  We were amazed at the growth.  Seeing it on the monitor made me laugh/cry.  Jer held my hand and had a look on his face that was priceless.  We both would look at each other in astonishment about having a baby inside my belly.  Hearing the heartbeat is always heart-warming.  To be able to hear it and know it's beating is the best feeling.

Profile picture.  Loved seeing its little nose.
Its feet and legs are developing.

Easter 2010 - The Reveal to our Family

As Christians, Easter easily became the most ideal time to reveal the existence of Baby Cook to our families and then friends.  To orchestrate the moment for each of our parents, we framed the sonogram picture from April 1, 2010 and put them in frames - one for Gloria, one for my mother, Pam, and one for my stepmother, Gina - which we wrapped up like ordinary presents.  This allowed us to surprise them by fibbing that we had simply gotten them an Easter gift.  We also videotaped them opening their gifts.  Suffice it to say, they were very joyful and Easter had even more meaning to us.

April 1, 2010 - Love at First Sight

With the tests taken and the good results known, we scheduled the first of many doctor's visits.  On April 1, 2010, at 3:15pm, we visited Dr. Kindrick's office and were immediately taken to the sonogram room.  The sono tech could not have been more sweet, kind and congratulatory.  Despite the results of the tests, we still had our concerns about the unknowns and the possibilities, so as she began the sonogram our hearts and minds were frozen in mild fear.  After just a few seconds, the tech smiled and said, "Well, there's definitely a little baby in there."  At that moment, Baby Cook was that much more alive to us.  She eventually turned up the volume so we could hear the heartbeat.  Life was beyond good.
