weekend recap

Our weekend consisted of:

getting B a new today for his 22 month birthday.  it's something we had been wanting to get him anyway, so it seemed like the perfect time to buy it.  you'll learn what it is in a post coming this week!

we went to church on Saturday evening.  something that we really like doing since there's less people which means less kids in nursery for B to be around in his class.  and less chances of catching a virus.  

i love how he holds my fingers so tightly.  we walked through church towards his class holding his hands.  daddy on one side and me on the other.  walking as a family.  best feeling ever.

after church we headed for dinner.

and dessert.

then we headed to Target for some browsing/too much spending of Jer's hard earning dollars.  

**oh, and you see the picture on the right of the glass lamp?  i'm pretty sure I Jer could make this by drilling a few holes through one of our glass bowls and installing a $7 light bulb kit.  who would seriously pay 40 bucks for a glass bowl turned into a lamp?!  not moi.

Sunday I met up with Celeste!!  gracious she is not only beautiful but she is precious!  we met up at Grand Lux Cafe, shared a pizza, had some great girl talk for nearly 2 hours, and then did a little shopping (at actually bought the same skirt, hehe).  i have to admit i was a little nervous of this "sorta blind date" not knowing what to expect or if we would click.  but we did instantly.  she's seriously so easy to talk to.  it felt like we had known each other for years.  love love loved our time together.  and we plan on doing it again soon.  eeeep!  

so, Celeste, if you're reading this.....thank you.  thank you for an awesome lunch date and thank you for being so sweet.  can't wait to grow our relationship!  :)

Oh Yard Work....You Are No Fun

Saturday, St. Patrick's Day, we decided to head outside (since it was so beautiful outside) and do some much needed yard work.  Our yard was that yard that everyone was snickering at.  But not anymore.  :)

While Jer was doing the actual work, Boston and I played while I chases him.

See what I mean?  Yup - that big ol' green grassy weed thingy was in our yard hanging over the curb.  Good work, Jer.  Good work.

Next he tackled the back yard.  It was even worse.  Thank goodness for our neighbors we have an 8ft fence back there.  I was even scared to look out our window at times.  Never knew what was growing back there or what would come crawling out of the madness.

It was so bad, Jer had to use the weed eater first along the fence line.

Oh and there was an almost 3ft weed that had grown.  Just hideous.  I can't even believe I'm showing you this.  This can be a disclaimer for you: always do your yard work in a timely manner or you could have this happen.

Ta-da!  Now we have a yard!  A yard for little man to frolic in.  :)

He doesn't even know what to thing about this green grassy stuff.  We hadn't let him walk around in the grass until it was mowed.

Later that evening, we headed to church.  But not before we had a mini photo session.  :)

Miscellany Monday

1.  I've recently had some new followers and I've added them to our "Blogs We Dig" list (on the right hand side), so be sure to check them out!  Anytime I have a new follower, I immediately within a couple of days I add them to my list so that others can go check out their blog, too!  So, thank you, to all of you new girls that have recently started to follow our blog!!!

2.  Everything about this dress makes me happy.  So flow-y, elegant, and the color is perfect.  It gets me excited for spring and summer.

3.  We had yucky weather on Saturday so we decided to hang out inside and do absolutely nothing except for watch the funeral service of Whitney Houston.  Just sad.

4.  For a while, Boston has been infatuated with his belly button which was super cute.  But now....he is also infatuated with picking his nose a.k.a. sticking his pointer finger far up one of his nostrils.  :)  He doesn't know what he's doing but I guess he finally noticed that he has nostril orifices.  Ha.  It makes us laugh....that is, until he starts doing it in public.  Eeekk.

5.  Last night we went to an event at our church called Habitation.  It was fantastic!  It was a great two hours that Jer and I got to spend together (while B was in the children's ministry) listening to a sermon about how to hear God talking to you and testimony's of some of God's miracles.  God is Great!!!

6.  I'm excited that I'll be catching up with Boston's "monthly letters" from his daddy and I.  I have months 13, 14, 15, and 16 to add and I can't wait to share them.  This little guy has evolved so much lately.  It's so fun (and bittersweet) watching him grow.  :)

7.  Lastly, I'm excited that I finally updated my list of "Our Topics" on the right hand side of our blog page.  Feel free to peruse them anytime.

Dedicated To The Lord

Did y'all notice something?  Okay, I'll answer...I was gone for One Whole Week!  I've never done that.  I decided to take a break, sabbatical, vacation or whatever you want to call it.  I decided that for one week I would devote all my attention to my sweet baby boy and preparing/planning for his 1st birthday party.  I won't take another week off until next year but I also won't be as diligent as usual in blogging until his birthday party is over.  So call it your warning.  :)  Anyway...on to the real matters at hand and that is that...

Boston was dedicated! 

One week ago today, last Sunday, August 14, 2011, we dedicated Boston to the Lord at our church Gateway (Southlake campus).  We felt like such proud parents.  We were so proud of him for doing so well with all of the chaos that went with having 22 people around him all day Sunday.  He was a trooper.  We give him the trooper award and two thumbs up. 

The night before, Jer and I had a date night which I wish I could say was relaxing and calm but it was far from it. We went to dinner then rushed to two stores to pick up last minute things for our lunch that we were hosting at our house after the dedication the next day. We didn't end up getting home until around 10:30 pm. We got home and my mom and I started preparing while Jer set up the tables for our lunch. (luckily, that day while I was co-hosting a baby shower Jer was home with Boston cleaning the house and washing all of our laundry so I didn't have to worry about that too. I know, he's a keeper, you don't have to tell me twice!)

However, it was indeed a great night with my love.  We went to my favorite place near our house the Cheesecake Factory.  Jer doesn't even have to ask me anymore where I want to eat.  I usually just say, "Cheesecake!"  We always split a meal (the combination meal of steak diane and chicken madera) and then split a strawberry shortcake.  Mannnn...they are YUMMO!!  If you haven't ever tried this meal and dessert, I highly suggest you try it.  They are both great meals to split!  I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. 

Okay about those cookies.  I baked cross cookies and iced them while my mom cut up all the fruit for our fruit salad.  I didn't get any pictures of the meal but we served light brunch-y type food: Tarragon Chicken Salad (from Central Market, the-very-best-chicken-salad-ever) on croissants, potato chips, fruit and fruit dip.  It was a perfect lunch to a perfect dedication.

My favorite part of his outfit were his white loafers.  Love love love these!  They topped off his outfit.  Let me tell ya, it's H-A-R-D to find white loafers.

 How he knew we were on the big screen behind us...we don't know!  Ha.  But we like to call him, Genius.  :-)

His sweet gifts from our family and friends.  He is such a blessed little guy.  

All in all it was a complete success.  This day was one of the most special days for us as parents.  We will be forever grateful to all of our friends and family that showed up to support our B-man.  Thank you all, again!
