Homemade playdoh has been on the to-do list for quite sometime. I'd say since Boston turned ONE. Yeah, 17 months later, here we are playing with playdoh for the first time. I know I could have given in and bought him store bought playdoh but nope, I needed to make it for him.
I found this recipe on pinterest and it seemed pretty easy. And it was!
1 cup flour
1 cup water
1/4 cup salt
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tbls vegetable oil
food coloring (4 drops is plenty)
Put all of the ingredients in a sauce pan and stir over medium heat until it balls up. Take it off heat and lay it on the counter on wax paper and knead it. That's it!
I store ours in a freezer sandwich ziplock and it's good as new.
Once its kneaded it looks like this.
We used Boston's favorite cookie cutters. Airplane and a car. :)
He wanted to take a bite out of it. Ha. Even though it IS edible, I couldn't let him. It just grossed me out for some reason.
Being Boston....being silly.
He lifted his "dumbbell" and made the same noise Jer makes when he's working out. It goes something like this, "phew, phew, phew!" Ha. This guy is a mess. :)
I think he loved his new playdoh. We've played with it a lot lately and it's still just as soft as the first day. I'll be making more with different colors, soon.
