I'm excited to share a quick little "painted jar" project with you today. It's so easy and most importantly it's pretty! Seriously, this project is so stinkin' easy anyone can do it.
Supplies:
- a few 53 cent wal-mart acrylic paints
- glass jars: I used left over pasta jars, a frappuccino jar and a few mason jars
- wax paper
-flowers
In the middle of making these, I decided that I wanted pink, too. So I got out some red paint that I already had and another mason jar. I mixed the white and red together until I had the exact pink that I liked. I didn't want it too bright or too pastel looking.
Steps:
1) poured in my paint, 2) swirled it around in each jar until the inside was completely covered with paint, 3) set upside down (on wax paper) to drain the leftover paint for a few hours and, 4) turned them over to let them dry over night.
There was a lot of paint that came out after leaving them upside down. If you don't use wax paper, make sure you use something that will contain the paint from seeping through.
The colors are perfect for summer and would go great on a kitchen sink shelf, a mantle, as a centerpiece or even an entry table. Oh, since this is acrylic paint....you won't be able to wash them or put water in them which means no real flowers. That's no problem for me since I can't seem to keep real flowers alive. :)
I hope you liked this project and will make a few yourself!

ReplyDeleteHi! Thanks for following my blog... yours is too cute! Where do yall live in TX? I'm from Houston but currently live in Ft. Worth. Such a fun DIY - I may have to do this very soon!!
ReplyDeleteHey! We live just north of Fort Worth!!! A blogger meet up would be FUN! :)
DeleteThose are so pretty.. I bet my kids would love to do this, since it doesn't look too tough.
ReplyDeleteDo you think you could use spray sealant over the jar after the paint dried? To seal it a little better?
Hey, Kim! Since the paint is on the inside, it will probably be safe without a sealant, but you could always spray a sealant inside the jar to be extra safe. :)
DeleteThese are awesome! I love the colors that you chose. :)
